Across Europe, announcements marked the death of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart as an “irreplaceable loss.” In his own city of Vienna and abroad, his friends and admirers intentionally kept his memory alive, and his musical influence on them is impossible to overlook. Come with us to explore music from the years after Mozart’s death from those who knew and respected him, including a dramatic string quartet by Joseph Eybler and a clarinet quartet arrangement of one of Mozart’s piano trios that was published nearly a decade after the composer’s death.
