Creative partnerships have always shaped the arts. In the early 19th century, composer Carl Maria von Weber and Clarinetist Heinrich Bärmann influenced both each other and the young Felix Mendelssohn. We explore these connections through Weber’s clarinet quintet which he wrote for Bärmann and a Mendelssohn string quartet, presented alongside a new arrangement of Weber’s beloved Aufforderung zum Tanz, The Invitation to the Dance, created just for us by our own friend and influencer, violinist Guillermo Salas Suárez. This program features our historical clarinetist, Dominic Giardino, on one of the greatest works in the instrument’s chamber music literature. Come explore this Wondrous World with us!
NOTE: This performance is confirmed, but venue details are forthcoming. Stay tuned!
